SME (SuccessMaker Enterprise) LAB

Westside Elementary's  computer lab is aimed at integrating state-of-the art technology within the curriculum.  There are 59 computer stations, currently featuring Apple iMacs and eMacs.  Each computer has the ability to connect to the internet.  This is available to students under the direct supervision of their classroom teacher.

All students are asked to provide their own headphones for lab use.  These can be purchased  inexpensively from Walmart, Target, or other discount stores.  (Please do not supply high quality, expensive headphones - students tend to lose them.)

First through third grade students use the computer lab on a daily basis for 30 minutes.  Fourth and Fifth grade students also use the lab if they are identified by FCAT results as Level One.  The main program used is SuccessMaker Enterprise from Pearson Learning.  It focuses on Reading and Math skill development.  Teachers are given daily and/or monthly reports on students' progress.  The students are STAR tested in Math and Reading at least twice each year using the lab computers.
