Welcome to the official web site for the Star Education Center. The Star Education Center is the alternative school for students in lieu of expulsion. The school is primarily designed to provide behavioral and academic instruction for students who are chronically disruptive in the traditional school environment.

 

 

Star Education Center Mission Statement

 

The Star Education Center mission is to provide a safe, caring and structured environment for students while educating them in the skills necessary to succeed in life. The school, believes that students who enter the Star program have the capability to be successful behaviorally and academically to subsequently return to their traditional school environment.

 

History

 

The Star Education Center originally opened as the Opportunity School at Lake Lindsey in 1976. Since then the Alternative School has gone through a few name changes and different locations. On December 2, 1996, the alternative school relocated to 1036 Varsity Drive, Brooksville our current campus. In 1997, the alternative school became the Star (Students at risk) Education Center. In October 2002, the old Adult Education and HITV on Varsity Drive is to e demolished with future plans to expand and modernize the Star Education Center.
