The Air Force Junior ROTC (AFJROTC) at F.W. Springstead High School is designated the Florida 952nd Cadet Group. The numbers designate that F.W. Springstead High School was the second school in Florida in the '95 year group to be selected to receive a new corps. The FL-952nd Cadet Group was established by agreement between the Hernando County School District and the Air Force in accordance with Public Law 88-647.
