Dual Enrollment
DE courses consist of students enrolling at Pasco Hernando Community College (PHCC), and taking college classes either at Springstead, at a PHCC campus, or online. Student who receive a grade of C or higher will earn both college and high school credit for the course. There is no standardized exam to take at the end of the year, however most professors assign a final exam.
For every class a student takes either at PHCC's campus or online, they will have one less class at Springstead and leave school early. This guarantees them a parking space at the school if they choose to apply for one, instead of having to participate in the lottery.
It is very important to look into taking a DE class(es) during a student's sophomore year. Please take a look at these course descriptions of sophomore level classes, to see which areas of study your student is confident in taking.
If your student isn't recommended by their teacher to take Dual Enrollment, you can request their placement in the class as long as they meet the minimum requirements for taking a Dual Enrollment class.
